Black / Brown296 x 392 cm

Kashmar rugs originate from the city of Kashmar in the northeastern part of the Middle East. This region has long been celebrated for its ability to blend traditional weaving techniques with sophisticated artistic designs, often drawing inspiration from the architectural and floral motifs found in historical gardens and monuments.

These rugs are distinguished by their technical precision and the use of high-quality wool, which provides a lustrous sheen and a durable finish. The term Kashmar refers not just to the geographical origin, but to a specific style of weaving that emphasises structural integrity and a refined, tight knotting style that defines the longevity of the finished piece.

Visually, Kashmar rugs are famous for their elaborate, large-scale medallion patterns, often surrounded by a sea of intricate floral sprays and scrolling vines. The borders are typically wide and filled with complex motifs, creating a frame that enhances the central design. The use of deep, resonant colours is a hallmark of the tradition, lending an air of regal sophistication to the final look.

Owning a piece from this tradition is a commitment to heritage and artistry. These rugs are highly valued by collectors for their consistency in quality and their ability to act as a bridge between historical weaving practices and modern interior design. By bringing a Kashmar rug into your home, you are acquiring a piece of cultural history that celebrates the mastery of the human hand.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that represents the pinnacle of artisan skill. By individually tying each knot, the weaver ensures a level of precision and pattern clarity that simply cannot be achieved through any other method, resulting in a robust, high-quality structure.

The sheer scale of this piece, combined with its substantial 58 kg weight, speaks to the immense amount of material and human effort invested in its creation. A rug of this size and density requires hundreds of hours of focused labour to complete, reflecting a dedication to craft that ensures both beauty and longevity.

The deliberate construction creates a dense, resilient pile that is built to withstand the demands of a busy home. By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are supporting a time-honoured tradition and investing in a floor covering that has been crafted to retain its form and character over generations.
