Dark red / Black130 x 206 cm

Joshaghan rugs originate from a historic region in the Middle East, a place renowned for its deep-rooted weaving heritage. These rugs are celebrated for their distinctive geometric designs, which often feature stylised floral motifs and large, bold medallions that have been refined over generations of local practice.

The quality of these rugs is tied to the traditional use of high-grade wool, which is valued for its natural lustre and resilience. This material is carefully selected and processed to ensure that the final product is not only beautiful but also capable of enduring the wear of a busy home, maintaining its texture and colour vibrancy.

Visually, Joshaghan rugs are known for their formal, structured layouts. The field is typically filled with repeating patterns, such as the famous 'Zeli-Sultan' or various geometric floral arrangements, all enclosed by wide, ornate borders. These elements work together to create a sense of balance and harmony that is characteristic of the region's artistic output.

For collectors and homeowners alike, owning a genuine Joshaghan represents an investment in cultural heritage. These pieces are valued for their connection to a specific geographical and artistic tradition, serving as a testament to the skill and creative spirit of the weavers who have kept these historic designs alive through the centuries.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires patience and a high degree of precision. By tying each individual knot by hand, the weavers create a resilient structure that ensures the rug will maintain its shape and beauty over time, far outlasting mass-produced alternatives.

With a total weight of 10.7 kg across its surface, this rug reflects a dense and substantial construction. This weight is a direct result of the high-quality wool used and the intensive labour required to build such a solid foundation, providing you with a heavy, stable rug that feels significant and substantial in any room.

The time and human effort invested in this hand-knotted piece are evident in the clarity of its geometric patterns and the consistent tension of the pile. This dedication to craft means that you are acquiring a durable, high-quality textile that showcases the authentic skill of the artisan who brought this design to life.
