This Isfahan rug stands as a testament to the storied weaving traditions of the Middle East. As a one-of-a-kind piece, it offers you the opportunity to own a work of art that exists nowhere else in the world, ensuring that your space remains as distinct as your personal style.

The tactile experience of this rug is defined by its luxurious, dense pile that provides both comfort underfoot and effective sound absorption. Its substantial construction makes it a warm, inviting presence in any living area, while the intricate floral motifs offer a visual richness that rewards close inspection.

Every curve and petal in the design is rendered with remarkable precision. This level of detail is achieved through a high knot density, which not only ensures that the pattern remains sharp and vivid but also contributes to a durable, resilient surface that is built to maintain its beauty for many years to come.

Owning this rug means bringing home a piece of history and genuine craftsmanship. Because no two rugs are ever identical, this specific item will never be replicated, making it a rare find for anyone who appreciates the character and depth that only a hand-knotted, authentic piece can provide.

Isfahan rugs are celebrated globally for their connection to the legendary city of Isfahan in the Middle East, a historic centre of culture, architecture, and art. The tradition of weaving in this region has evolved over centuries, drawing inspiration from the intricate tile work and majestic gardens that define the local aesthetic. These rugs are widely regarded as some of the most sophisticated examples of the craft.

The technical excellence of Isfahan weaving is renowned for its refinement. Artisans in this region are famous for their ability to execute complex, curvilinear designs that require immense technical control. The use of high-quality materials and tight, precise knotting techniques ensures that the resulting rugs are both durable and exceptionally detailed, maintaining their lustrous appearance over time.

The visual language of an Isfahan rug is typically characterised by a central medallion or a sophisticated floral field, often inspired by the 'Shah Abbas' pattern or classical garden motifs. The borders are usually just as intricate, featuring delicate vines and flowers that frame the central composition. This piece is particularly special for its vivid portrayal of a vase filled with flowers, a motif that speaks to the historical importance of nature and beauty in Middle Eastern art.

Rugs from this tradition are highly valued by collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the intersection of heritage and skill. Owning an Isfahan rug is an investment in a long-standing artistic legacy, reflecting a commitment to quality and a love for traditional craftsmanship. These pieces are not merely floor coverings but are considered lasting treasures that anchor a home with their cultural depth and storied origins.

This rug is crafted using a meticulous hand-knotted technique, a process that requires immense patience and skill from the artisan. By carefully tying each individual knot by hand, the weaver ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern clarity that simply cannot be matched by machine-made alternatives.

With a density of 640,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 204 x 134 cm piece represents hundreds of hours of dedicated labour. This significant investment of time and human effort results in a remarkably dense and heavy 8.2 kg construction, highlighting the high-quality materials and rigorous standards employed throughout the weaving process.

The precision required to manage such a high knot count is what allows for the sophisticated, fluid lines of the floral patterns seen on this rug. This demanding craft tradition ensures that the final result is not only visually striking but also physically robust, capable of withstanding daily life while retaining its refined form.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Silk

Silk is an exclusive natural fibre that provides a soft and shiny feeling to rugs. The material can also be used to enhance details in wool rugs and in some, silk can make up the entire pile and sometimes even the warp. Elegant rugs with rich details can only be made with silk because other fibres are too thick for this purpose. Silk is a durable and hard-wearing fibre that lasts a long time and becomes more beautiful over time. Due to its sensitivity to liquids, it is advisable to refrain from positioning the rug in areas where there is a high likelihood of moisture or potential spills.
