HosseinabadHand KnottedRug

Dark red / Black136 x 215 cm

The Hosseinabad rug tradition hails from the Middle Eastern region, where weaving is deeply embedded in the local culture. These rugs are named after the village of their origin, and they represent a long-standing practice of creating durable, functional art that reflects the specific aesthetic sensibilities of the local artisans.

The term hand-knotted refers to the traditional method where each knot is tied onto the foundation by hand, rather than being woven on a mechanical loom. This technique is essential for creating a rug that is both flexible and incredibly durable, allowing it to withstand years of use while retaining its structural beauty.

Design-wise, these rugs are often recognised for their bold, balanced compositions. You will typically find a central medallion surrounded by intricate, repeating motifs that draw inspiration from the natural world and traditional geometry. The use of deep red and dark blue tones is a hallmark of this style, creating a warm and sophisticated visual appeal.

Collectors value these rugs for their authenticity and the human story woven into every fibre. Owning a piece from this tradition means acquiring a work of art that represents a bridge to the past, showcasing a level of skill and dedication that is increasingly rare in the modern world.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to complete every single piece. This labour-intensive process requires immense precision, as every individual knot is tied by hand to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the final product.

With a density of 160.000 knots per m2, this rug achieves a remarkably fine level of detail and a consistent, resilient pile. This high knot count is a testament to the artisan's skill and provides the rug with its sharp, clear pattern definition and durable surface that stands up to the demands of a busy home.

The substantial construction is further evidenced by the total weight of 12.3 kg. This weight signifies a generous use of quality materials and a dense knotting technique, resulting in a robust, high-quality floor covering designed to endure for generations.
