Hosseinabad FineHand KnottedRug

Black / Dark redRunner83 x 308 cm

Hosseinabad rugs originate from the Hamadan region of the Middle East, an area with a long and storied history of rug weaving. These rugs are highly regarded for their durability and their distinctive, village-style aesthetics that reflect the cultural heritage of the local weaving communities.

The term 'Fine' in the name refers to the quality of the weaving, which often features a more refined approach to the traditional knotting techniques characteristic of the area. This higher knot density is significant because it allows for more intricate and detailed patterns, resulting in a rug that is both more visually compelling and more durable than standard variations.

The visual language of these rugs typically centres on traditional motifs, often incorporating geometric interpretations of floral elements or medallion designs. The deep red field is a hallmark of this tradition, often contrasted with borders that frame the composition, creating a balanced and formal look that feels both grounded and expressive.

Owning a piece from this tradition is a way to connect with a legacy of craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations. These rugs are valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their authenticity, the skill required to produce them, and their ability to bring a sense of history and warmth into modern living spaces.

This runner is carefully hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense skill and patience. With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 308 x 83 cm piece represents hundreds of hours of focused human effort. The artisan must tie each individual knot by hand, ensuring the structural integrity and lasting quality of the rug.

The construction is further defined by its substantial weight of 10.7 kg, which serves as a clear indicator of the density and volume of Wool used. This weight confirms that the rug is densely packed and well-constructed, providing a heavy, high-quality foundation that will lay flat and withstand the test of time.

The dedication required to achieve such a precise knot count is reflected in the final product's sharp, clear patterns and its robust, long-lasting pile. By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are investing in a level of craftsmanship that simply cannot be replicated by machines, ensuring a durable and beautiful addition to your home.
