Gabbeh - A Deeply Calming Foundation for Your Home

This one-of-a-kind Shabargan rug brings a serene, organic aesthetic to any room. Expertly hand-knotted, its rich, tonal depth and plush texture create a welcoming atmosphere that is truly unique to this individual piece.

This beautiful Shabargan rug offers a luxurious, tactile experience that instantly grounds a living space. With a substantial pile height of 27 mm, it provides exceptional underfoot comfort, warmth, and natural sound-dampening qualities that make any room feel more intimate and cosy.

The rich, layered tones of the Wool create a dynamic visual field that changes subtly with the light, showcasing an organic elegance. Because this is a one-of-a-kind piece, the specific nuances of its colour and texture cannot be replicated, ensuring that your home features a truly singular work of art.

Beyond its visual appeal, the rug is designed for lasting comfort and durability. The natural Wool construction offers a soft, inviting surface that is resilient enough for daily living while maintaining its plush, dense feel.

Owning this rug means possessing a piece that is as unique as your personal style. It serves as a calming anchor for your interior, bringing a sense of balance and heritage to your home that only a hand-knotted treasure can provide.

The Shabargan rugs are a testament to the enduring traditions of the Middle Eastern weaving craft, originating from regions known for their nomadic heritage. These rugs are deeply connected to the landscapes of their origin, often reflecting the natural colours and rugged beauty of the surrounding environment in their designs.

In the context of rug-making, the term Shabargan refers to a specific style of hand-knotted weaving that prioritises the quality of the Wool and the depth of the finish. Unlike more intricate, formal patterns, these rugs often celebrate the beauty of the material itself, utilising techniques that highlight the natural lustre and softness of the Wool to create a tactile, comforting surface.

The visual language of this tradition is characterised by its focus on tonal variation and organic, often minimalist, aesthetics. While many traditional rugs rely on complex geometric or floral medallions, the Shabargan style often embraces a more open, atmospheric field, allowing the depth of the colour to be the primary focus of the design.

Collecting a piece from this tradition is an investment in both history and skill. Owning such a rug connects your living space to a long lineage of artisans who have perfected the art of hand-knotting. It is a choice that values the human touch and the lasting quality of natural materials over mass production.

This rug is crafted using traditional hand-knotted techniques that require a high degree of skill and patience. Each knot is placed individually by hand, a process that ensures the pile remains dense, uniform, and incredibly durable over many years of use.

With a knot density of 90,000 knots per m2, this piece represents a significant investment of time and human effort. Given its dimensions of 198 x 147 cm, the total knot count is substantial, requiring weeks of dedicated work by experienced artisans who follow generations-old methods to achieve such a consistent finish.

The quality of the construction is further evidenced by its weight of 7.6 kg, which reflects the generous use of high-quality materials. This density provides the rug with its structural integrity and plush, substantial feel, ensuring it stays firmly in place while providing a luxurious surface that will stand the test of time.

Wolle
