China 90 LineShaggyRug

Black / Orange60 x 90 cm

Chinese rug weaving is a tradition that spans centuries, deeply rooted in the artistic history of the region. Originally influenced by imperial court designs, these rugs have evolved to incorporate both traditional floral motifs and sophisticated, balanced layouts that are highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

The term '90 Line' refers to a traditional system of measuring knot density in Chinese rug production, which essentially counts the number of knots per linear foot. This specific density ensures a plush, durable pile that feels luxurious to the touch while allowing for the crisp definition of the floral patterns that are signature to this style.

The design language of Chinese rugs often centres on naturalistic elements, such as flowers, branches, and birds, rendered with a sense of harmony and grace. The use of a deep blue field, as seen here, is a classic choice that provides a dramatic backdrop for the softer pastel floral elements, creating a visual contrast that highlights the intricacy of the design.

Owning a hand-knotted piece from China is an investment in cultural heritage and skilled artistry. These rugs are valued not only for their aesthetic beauty but also for the endurance of their materials and the precision of their construction. They represent a bridge between ancient techniques and modern home comfort, offering a legacy of quality that is increasingly rare in today's world.

This piece is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience. Each individual knot is carefully tied by hand to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the rug. This level of craftsmanship is reflected in its dense construction, which guarantees that the rug will maintain its beauty and form for years to come.

The 2.7 kg weight is a clear indicator of the high-quality materials and intensive labour invested in its creation. A rug of this size and weight demonstrates a commitment to density and durability that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match. Every element of the construction has been considered to provide a premium finish that stands up to daily life.

The precision of the hand-knotted technique allows for the intricate floral details and clean lines visible in the pattern. By investing in this piece, you are supporting a tradition of craft that values human expertise over speed. This rug is not merely a floor covering but a result of dedicated effort, designed to bring lasting quality to your home.
