The Berber tradition finds its roots in the nomadic cultures of North Africa, known for their expressive, geometric designs and thick, warm wool construction. Over time, these styles have evolved and travelled, influencing rug-making traditions across the Middle East and Central Asia.

In Afghanistan, local weavers have adopted these classic design principles, infusing them with regional techniques and materials. The result is a fusion of heritage and local artistry, where the spirit of the original Berber style meets the sophisticated knotting skills found in Afghan workshops.

Signature elements of this style often include spontaneous, organic patterns and a focus on natural wool textures. This particular rug honours those traditions by utilising a minimalist layout that highlights the natural beauty of the wool, allowing the subtle shifts in tone and the deliberate placement of motifs to take centre stage.

Owning a rug from this lineage is an opportunity to connect with a long-standing history of textile artistry. These pieces are valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their ability to bring a sense of human effort and cultural depth into a modern living space, serving as a reminder of the enduring power of traditional craft.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time and effort to each individual piece. With a density of 90,000 knots per m2, the construction process is highly deliberate, ensuring that the geometric motifs are rendered with precision and the pile remains dense and supportive underfoot.

The weight of 9.9 kg for a rug of this size is a testament to the generous amount of high-quality wool used in its creation. This weight provides a substantial, grounded feel, indicating a robust foundation that is built to withstand regular use while maintaining its shape and texture over time.
