One-of-a-kind
Berber Moroccan - Beni OurainHand KnottedWool rug
Orange / Beige155 x 214 cm

Berber Moroccan - A Soft Foundation for Your Home

This authentic Beni Ourain rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece from Morocco, offering a thick, plush Wool pile that brings warmth and comfort to any interior space.
This genuine Beni Ourain rug offers a tactile experience defined by its thick, plush Wool pile. Its soft, deep construction provides exceptional comfort underfoot and serves as an effective sound absorber, making it a perfect addition to bedrooms or quiet living areas where a calm atmosphere is desired.
The minimalist diamond design is a hallmark of the Mid Atlas tradition, rendered in a natural palette that feels both grounded and light. Because each rug is a one-of-a-kind creation, the subtle variations in its pattern and texture ensure that you are bringing a completely unique piece of artistry into your home.
Originating from the mountainous regions of Morocco, this rug carries the heritage of its makers in every fibre. The Wool used is known for its durability and natural warmth, ensuring that this piece remains a welcoming part of your living space for years to come.
Owning this rug means possessing an original item that will never be replicated. Its presence adds a sense of organic luxury to a room, grounding your furniture and creating a cohesive, cosy foundation that invites you to slow down and enjoy the comfort of your surroundings.
The Beni Ourain rugs originate from the Middle Atlas Mountains in Morocco, where they were traditionally crafted by nomadic tribes. These rugs were historically used not just as floor coverings, but as essential items for survival, serving as blankets and warm bedding during the cold winters in the high-altitude regions.
The construction of these rugs relies on the natural, un-dyed Wool of the local sheep, which gives them their characteristic creamy and neutral tones. The materials are processed using traditional methods that maintain the natural oils in the fibres, resulting in a rug that is naturally resistant to wear and incredibly soft to the touch.
Visually, these rugs are defined by their simple, geometric designs. The diamond motif often seen on these pieces is more than just a decorative choice; it is a traditional symbol that has been passed down through generations of weavers. The lines are purposefully understated, allowing the natural texture of the Wool to take centre stage.
Today, these rugs are highly valued by collectors and interior enthusiasts for their authentic connection to Moroccan craft heritage. Acquiring a piece like this is more than a purchase; it is a way to preserve a centuries-old tradition of skill and artistic expression that remains vital and relevant in contemporary homes.
This rug is carefully hand-knotted by skilled artisans who have mastered their craft over generations. The construction process involves a significant investment of time and human effort, ensuring that every knot is placed with intention to create a dense and resilient structure.
Weighing 10 kg, this piece demonstrates a substantial use of high-quality Wool. This weight is a clear indicator of the rug's density and the amount of labour required to complete the piece. The focus on manual precision results in a durable foundation that stands the test of time and daily use.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
