Berber Colourful - A Vibrant Expression for Your Floor

Bring lively warmth to your home with this genuinely one-of-a-kind Afghan Berber Colourful rug, hand-knotted from 100% wool with a cosy 10 mm pile.

Experience the inviting warmth and rich underfoot comfort of this handmade Afghan rug, crafted from 100% natural wool.

Standing at a comfortable 10 mm thick, the plush pile provides a soft, cushioning surface that naturally muffles sound and adds a welcoming layer of insulation to chilly floors.

The surface displays a rich patchwork of tribal motifs and geometric patterns in an array of bright hues.

A knot density of 40,000 knots per m2 creates a clear, enduring pattern definition while ensuring the pile remains resilient against everyday living.

As a truly one-of-a-kind piece, no other rug in the world shares this exact combination of colours and traditional motifs.

This exact rug will never be made again, making it a distinctive focal point that brings genuine character and individuality to your living space.

Originating from the skilled weaving communities of Afghanistan, this piece carries a rich heritage of handcraft.

It is a dependable, honest home companion designed to soften your rooms and offer lasting comfort day after day.

The Berber rug tradition originates from the indigenous tribal communities of North Africa, yet the techniques and design spirit have travelled and taken root across various regions including Afghanistan.

Artisans in these areas adapt age-old storytelling methods into woven carpets, passing down pattern knowledge and spinning skills through generations of family workshops.

The 100% wool pile is spun to balance softness with resilience, creating a tactile surface that responds gracefully to natural light.

Traditional weaving methods ensure that the foundation and surface work together harmoniously, resulting in a flexible yet sturdy textile designed to lie flat and endure.

Visually, this tradition embraces expressive geometric arrangements, diamond symbols, and striking colour blocks that reflect tribal identity and local surroundings.

While traditional pieces often relied on muted earth tones, contemporary interpretations like this colourful variation introduce playful palettes while keeping the ancestral grammar of motifs intact.

Owning a hand-knotted rug from this tradition means preserving a living craft heritage that resists mass production.

Each finished piece represents an unbroken line of human skill, offering collectors and homeowners a tangible link to centuries of textile artistry.

This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-knotted techniques by skilled artisans in Afghanistan.

Bringing a piece of this size to life requires weeks of dedicated manual labour, where every single knot is tied individually by hand to secure the 100% wool fibres to the foundation.

With a density of 40,000 knots per m2 distributed across the 148 x 89 cm dimensions, artisans have meticulously placed approximately 5 million knots by hand.

This deliberate, unhurried density ensures the pattern stays sharp and gives the pile the strength to withstand years of daily use.

Weighing 5.3 kg, the substantial construction reflects the heavy investment of material and human effort behind every square centimetre.

This dense physical weight anchors the rug securely in place while guaranteeing long-term structural integrity and resilience.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
