Beluch rugs take their name from the nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes of the Baluchistan region, which spans parts of Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Pakistan. These rugs are deeply rooted in a nomadic tradition where weaving has served as a primary form of cultural expression and functional artistry for centuries.

The construction of a Beluch rug is characterised by its focus on durability and tactile warmth. Because these pieces were historically created to withstand the rigours of nomadic life, the Wool is chosen for its strength and resilience, resulting in a pile that is not only soft to the touch but also exceptionally long-lasting.

Visually, these rugs are known for their geometric motifs and deep, earthy colour palettes. The field is often populated by angular medallions, repeating diamond patterns, and stylised floral motifs that reflect the weavers' environment and cultural history. The borders are typically complex, serving as a formal frame for the expressive central field.

Collectors value Beluch rugs for their authentic connection to ancient weaving traditions and the high level of individual character found in each piece. Choosing a Beluch runner means acquiring a piece of cultural heritage that showcases the skill and artistic vision of the craftspeople who continue this legacy today.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience, precision, and human effort. Each individual knot is tied by hand over the course of many months, ensuring a level of structural integrity and pattern definition that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

The weight of 15.9 kg across its generous dimensions is a direct result of the dense, high-quality construction. This significant amount of material and labour invested in the weaving process results in a heavy, stable runner that lies flat and maintains its shape over time, demonstrating the superior quality of its craft.
