Black / Dark redRunner152 x 370 cm

The Lori Pambak tradition originates from the rugged, mountainous regions of the Caucasus, a territory spanning parts of the modern-day Middle East and Russia. These rugs are historically celebrated for their bold, geometric interpretations of local culture, often reflecting the dramatic landscapes and vibrant artistic heritage of the communities that created them.

These rugs are distinguished by their specific technical construction, which is essential to their longevity. The Wool is processed and knotted with great care, ensuring that the pile is dense enough to withstand the wear of daily life while retaining its rich, saturated colours for decades. This technical mastery is why these rugs remain sought after by collectors worldwide.

Visually, the Lori Pambak is famous for its large-scale medallion motifs, which often dominate the central field. These patterns are typically framed by intricate, stylized borders that feature geometric motifs, creating a sense of balance and rhythm. The use of deep red and blue tones is iconic to this region, providing a warmth that defines the classic aesthetic of the area.

Collecting these antique pieces is a way to preserve a rich cultural legacy. Each rug acts as a document of a specific time and place, showcasing the skill and creative vision of the weaver. To own a piece like this is to act as a custodian of ancient craft, bringing a level of authenticity and cultural weight to your home that is truly special.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense focus and patience from the artisan. By carefully looping each strand of Wool onto the foundation, the weaver ensures a level of structural consistency and detail that defines the highest standard of rug-making.

The effort invested in this piece is reflected in its substantial 15.7 kg weight, which signals a dense, high-quality construction. This density is the result of thousands of individual knots placed by hand, a labour-intensive technique that gives the rug its exceptional durability and crisp, clear pattern definition.

Such a complex, large-scale creation takes months of dedicated work to complete. This significant human investment is what distinguishes this rug from modern alternatives, as the combination of time, skill, and premium materials results in a product built to endure for a lifetime.
