Abadeh rugs originate from the small town of Abadeh, situated on the historic caravan route between Shiraz and Isfahan in the Middle East. This region has long been a melting pot of nomadic and settled weaving traditions, resulting in a style that is distinctly recognisable for its blend of tribal energy and refined, formal composition.

The technical quality of these rugs is defined by their construction, which often utilises a sturdy foundation to support the Wool pile. Weavers in this area are known for their ability to balance complex, geometric patterns with a harmonious colour palette, creating a sense of order that is both visually engaging and deeply rooted in local design history.

The signature design elements of an Abadeh rug typically feature a central medallion or a series of diamond shapes, often surrounded by small, stylised representations of flora and fauna. These motifs are not merely decorative but often carry symbolic meanings related to the weaver's environment, such as birds, trees, or local wildlife, which are woven into the field with great care.

Collectors value these rugs for their authentic connection to a vibrant weaving culture that has persisted for generations. Owning an Abadeh piece is an investment in cultural heritage, representing a level of skill and artistic expression that stands apart from modern, automated manufacturing, and ensuring you have a piece of history on your floor.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires patience and remarkable precision. By knotting the Wool pile directly onto a sturdy cotton foundation, the weavers create a durable structure that is designed to withstand daily use while maintaining its shape and visual clarity.

The construction of this runner involves thousands of individual knots placed by hand, a labour-intensive method that ensures the pattern remains sharp and the pile stays dense. This level of dedication to the craft is why each piece takes months to complete, resulting in a finished product that is significantly more robust than mass-produced alternatives.

With a weight of 8.1 kg, this runner demonstrates the substantial amount of Wool used in its creation. This density is a direct indicator of the quality and effort invested by the weaver, ensuring a heavy, stable rug that lies flat and provides a luxurious experience for years to come.
